In the centre of Kyiv, Ukrainian security forces faced a new wave of Russian attacks, with at least 15 people killed in the city centre. Russian forces carried out strikes primarily targeting residential buildings and warehouses, resulting in serious consequences for the civilian population in the capital. The attacks led to a power outage for thousands of households in the Kyiv region, further complicating the daily lives of citizens in difficult conditions.
According to available information, 162 drones and 44 missiles were launched. Although Ukrainian air defences intercepted the majority of threats, including 146 drones and 39 cruise missiles, the remaining threats managed to breach the defensive lines. Experts highlight that the key factor in these attacks is the shortage of air defence missiles in Ukraine, leaving the country dependent on Western allies for the supply of necessary defensive equipment.
In memory of the victims, a day of mourning was declared in the country. This gesture honours all those who lost their lives in the night-time attacks, highlighting the weight of the loss for families and the community. Meanwhile, the Russian attacks have resulted in other incidents, including those in which at least 16 people were killed, including a child, further underscoring the humanitarian crisis caused by the conflict.
In addition, Ukrainian forces continued their attacks deep into Russian territory, including strikes on the capital, Moscow. These attacks, including those on the online store Wildberries, have reduced capacity by 70 per cent, which could have long-term consequences for supply chains and economic stability in the region. These events highlight the complexity of the conflict and the need for international support in resolving the crisis.
