Zagreb Police have concluded a criminal investigation into a 32-year-old and a 38-year-old Serbian national. Both are charged with a criminal offence, and the investigation established that they committed a total of ten offences of aggravated theft. Two of these offences remained in the attempt stage, while the remaining acts were carried out using appropriate tools. In some instances, physical force was used when opening the doors of premises.
The criminal investigation established that the suspects carried out their actions in the areas of Ivanić-Grad, Dugo Selo, Vrbovac and Zaprešić. The first recorded incident occurred in May, when the 32-year-old approached a shop at night. He forcibly opened the doors and entered the premises. At that moment, he stole cigarettes, before returning to the same shop less than two hours after the first break-in. There, he stole additional quantities of cigarettes and other items before fleeing.
During the commission of these acts, the suspects used appropriate tools to open closed spaces. On two occasions, they broke into a shop in the Vrbovac area and a petrol station. In those cases, they left the scene without stealing any property. The total material damage caused by these criminal offences is estimated at around €21,500.
Police officers have handed the suspects over to the relevant authorities. A special report on the actions taken and the results of the investigation has been submitted to the relevant state attorney’s office for further proceedings. Prior to these events, the Zagreb Police had already had contact with the 32-year-old. According to available information, previous complaints had been filed against him for various criminal offences, indicating a prior history of criminal activity.
