The traditional 26th Selection of the Most Exemplary Croatian Rural Woman will take place on 3 October. A total of 21 candidates will participate in the competition. The organiser, the association 'Exemplary Croatian Women', is preparing for one of the oldest and most prestigious events of its kind in Croatia, which promotes rural values, family farming and women's diligence.
Among the registered candidates is Neda Popović (born in Sinj, currently residing in the Drniš settlement). Her family farm, which has been in operation since 1999, is the cornerstone of her daily life. A key role in managing the estate is played by the breeding of cattle, specifically the brown breed, on 86 hectares of land. In addition to livestock farming, the family members are involved in meat processing, which ensures additional stability and value to their business.
The other prominent participant is Ana Juračić (born in Đakovo). Her family business, located in Opuzen, covers more than four hectares of land, on which she grows more than 4,000 citrus trees, primarily mandarin, lemon and orange. Annually, around 35 tonnes of mandarins are produced and harvested on the estate. Ana Juračić, wife and mother of four, works on the family estate, where, alongside primary agricultural production, fruit processing is carried out. Domestic jams, juices and dried fruit are produced on the estate, which further increases the value of the products. Her family business, supported by family labour, yields produce that is distributed through purchasing centres but also directly to customers.
Both candidates, Neda Popović and Ana Juračić, represent different but equally valuable aspects of rural life. Their stories, enriched by personal experience and work, contribute to the richness and diversity of the event, making it even more significant for all participants. The event, organised by the association 'Exemplary Croatian Women', represents an important event for promoting the values of rural life. Its tradition, for many years, has promoted the values of rural life, family labour and community, making it a unique event in Croatia.
