Trog will transform into a hub of cultural exchange on 21 August. The coastal town will become the stage for world folklore, as a grand folk evening takes place on the square of Pope John Paul II. The event is part of a wider series, the 5th CIOFF International Festival of Split, which brings together performers from various parts of the world.
The main attraction of the evening is a rich programme blending different cultural traditions. Performers from Mexico, Canada, Turkey, Slovakia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia will take to the stage. The Mexican ensemble Tecniart Dance Studio is particularly highlighted, underscoring the global nature of this cultural event. Alongside them, the public will be treated to the Ankara University Folk Dance Group from Turkey and the Canadian ensemble Tryzub from Calgary, further enriching the cultural mosaic of the evening.
Domestic performers will also have a prominent place. Croatian colours will be represented by the SKUD Ivan Goran Kvačić ensemble from Zagreb, which will join local performers. Alongside them, the Kvadrilja ensemble from Trog and the Šolta ensemble from Gornji Sel will perform, highlighting the importance of local traditions within an international framework. The host ensemble, Jedinstvo from Split, will also mark its presence at this significant cultural gathering.
Visitors wishing to attend the event will find entry is free. The evening programme will begin at 20:00, held under the open sky, allowing for a pleasant experience of music and dance in a welcoming atmosphere. This event represents not only a cultural experience but also an opportunity to promote mutual understanding through shared appreciation of traditional arts.
