The Dubrovnik-Neretva County has secured significant funds for the improvement of local health infrastructure, aiming to improve working conditions in several key health institutions. A total of more than €2.5m has been allocated for this purpose, representing a significant step towards the modernisation of primary and secondary care in the region.
A key part of this investment package is the allocation of €1.6m for the reconstruction and renovation of the Josipovac centre. This investment is part of the broader 'Strengthening the capacity of primary and secondary healthcare in Dalmatia' (SKTZ) project, to which significant financial support is being directed. The agreement for the €915,000 project, which is part of this whole, was signed by the ministers, with the county deputy signing the agreement on behalf of the county.
In addition to infrastructure works, the purchase of modern medical equipment is planned. A digital mammography unit is to be purchased, and a digital X-ray machine is to be purchased for the radiology department in Vela Luka. These changes in equipment should contribute to faster and higher quality diagnostics for patients in these areas.
In Metković, on the other hand, specific medical equipment is to be purchased, including an EKG machine, a blood pressure measuring device (holter) and a device for measuring the AB (ankle-brachial) index. In addition, funds are available for the purchase of other medical devices, which are intended to meet the specific needs of local healthcare in that part of the county. These measures are part of a broader strategy to strengthen the healthcare system in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County.
