Brod-Posavina County has taken key steps to improve social care, simultaneously adopting the social plan for the period 2025 to 2027. As part of these measures, the county president, Danijel Marušić, signed a contract with the Multiple Sclerosis Society, securing funding for the provision of specific services to vulnerable groups across the county.
The core of this initiative is a free and adapted transport service, designed for people with disabilities, the elderly, and the infirm, as well as all those in need of assistance with mobility. The service is provided via a specialized minibus equipped with a ramp for the easier access of people in wheelchairs, ensuring the safety and dignity of users during travel.
The organisation of transport is based on pre-prepared applications, with a schedule of journeys taking into account the individual needs of users, including their health condition, scheduled appointments or therapy, and the distance to the destination. It is planned that between 100 and 150 journeys will be carried out over the course of a year, with the actual number depending on the specific needs of users, the distance to the destination, and the duration of individual trips.
This measure is part of a wider strategy aimed at increasing the accessibility of health, social, and public services. The aim is not only to facilitate daily functioning, but also to reduce social isolation for users, contributing to greater independence in everyday life and ensuring equal access to necessary services for all citizens.
